Turkish expert team arrives Bangladesh to investigate massive fire
The team met with Sheikh Bashiruddin, adviser to the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, in Dhaka to discuss the investigation into the blaze at the cargo village of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
Appreciating the Turkish assistance, the adviser stated that the collaboration will further “strengthen the mutual relations between the two countries and will play an important role in advancing the investigation activities,” according to the ministry.
The delegation was led by First Degree Chief Superintendent Oykun Ilgun.
The fire, which broke out on October 18 in the cargo section where imported goods are mainly stored, was controlled with the efforts of 37 firefighting units along with Bangladesh’s army, air force, and navy.
The airport blaze came shortly after two major factory fires in Dhaka and Chattogram, which together claimed at least 16 lives this month.
