CANADA, August 28 - Drivers are advised to plan for an overnight traffic-pattern change on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2026, on Highway 1 at the 264th Street Interchange as work progresses to widen Highway 1 through the Fraser Valley.
Starting at 9 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 29, northbound and southbound traffic on 264th Street will be shifted west onto a newly built roadway and bridge. The existing bridge and lanes on 264th Street will be permanently closed. Single-lane-alternating traffic will be in place overnight on Saturday, Aug. 29 while the transition is completed.
This traffic-pattern change is necessary to allow the Ministry of Transportation and Transit’s contractor to prepare for demolition of the existing 264th Street structure. This work is a key component of the Fraser Valley Highway 1 Corridor Improvement Program, which is dedicated to improving safety and reducing congestion.
Drivers are asked to slow down, use caution, obey signage and traffic-control personnel and watch for roadside workers. Allow for additional travel time through the area and follow posted speed limits.
