(October 19, 2026) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin a resurfacing project on MD 362 (Mount Vernon Road) between Fitzbound Road and Crisfield Lane in Somerset County. The project can start as soon as Tuesday, October 20, and is anticipated to be complete by late December, weather permitting.
Drivers can expect daytime single-lane closures Mondays through Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., as crews begin resurfacing operations. Drivers should plan extra travel time during the pavement improvement project.
The State Highway Administration’s contractor, George and Lynch, Inc. of Dover, DE, will use arrow boards, cones, and flaggers to safely guide motorists through the work zone.
The State Highway Administration is Serious About Safety. Pedestrians and motorists are urged to remain alert and avoid distractions when traveling through the work zone. Motorists should obey all posted speed limits. Motorists can dial #77 on their mobile devices for roadside assistance.
